Steve Hammes completed a 35 year career in public accounting with McGladrey & Pullen/RSM McGladrey, certified public accountants and consultants, serving the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor and the Quad Cities markets. He is now a managing director in INTEGRUS Consulting, LLC, a business exit planning and financial management services consulting firm.
Steve serves on the board of directors of Stanley Consultants – Global Engineering Service Provider, and Bankers Trust Company, Cedar Rapids and was recently a part-time adjunct instructor in the Entrepreneurial Center at the University of Iowa College of Business.
He is Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) with the American Institute of CPA (AICPA).
During his career as a CPA his client service focus was as a partner/managing director serving owner-managed businesses in the service, manufacturing, wholesale/distribution, construction and aviation industries. His professional business experience includes financial reporting, business valuation, strategic business planning, ownership transition planning, business acquisition and sale assistance and management incentive compensation design.
During 2006 and 2007 he led a McGladrey firm wide task force focused on strengthening the Firms’ infrastructure and people development processes for the client service model for serving owner-managed business clients. That work resulted in the development of the Entrepreneurial Services Group career path for professionals serving these clients.
From 1996 to 2000 he served on the board of directors of McGladrey & Pullen and was involved in strategy work that resulted in the sale of the Firm in 1999 to H&R Block as a strategic capital partner.
His roles in the Cedar Rapids and Quad Cities professional practices included extensive practice leadership, people development and management responsibilities.
In both the Cedar Rapids and Quad Cities markets he has been an active leader in numerous economic development and community organizations. He has served as a board member and supporter of Junior Achievement, Priority One, Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, the Long-term Planning Commission for the City of Cedar Rapids, the Long-term Recovery Planning Task Force of the Rebuild Iowa Advisory Commission, Elmcrest Country Club, Prospect Meadows, and chaired the Twin Pines Golf Course Task Force.
He has served on the City of Cedar Rapids Local Option Sales Tax oversight committee and the State of Iowa Great Places advisory board.
Steve grew up in a large family near Keota, Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa in accounting and finance. He has been married to his wife JoAnne for 40 plus years and is the father of three daughters and a son and has nine grandchildren.
